This class will require hikes of 5+ miles at a time for collecting sticks and navigation courses daily over terrain which may be very muddy and uneven while carrying your gear. Port-a-Pots are located approximately 400 yards from the base camp near the parking area. Water is available from jugs always located in Base Camp. The third night of the course you will be required to sleep in a bush camp shelter that you will construct as part of the final exercise and you will have limited gear for comfort- no exceptions are made, if you cannot make fire, you simply will not have it.

If you suffer from a medical condition or chronic pain, please bring your prescribed medicines with you. If you have recently undergone surgery or a hospital stay within the last 30 days, DO NOT attempt this course until you have had more time to recuperate.

It is highly recommended that you physically prepare yourself at least a month in advance to this or any other Pathfinder course by hiking/ walking regularly (at least 3 times weekly) for 5K working up to a pack weight of 50lb before the class begins. As the premier school of self-reliance, our training exceeds that of any other school in the nation; so please take it seriously and take the time to physically prepare. It is strongly recommended to take the Basic class before taking an Intermediate or Advanced class and recommended that you complete this class before Advanced.

REFUND POLICY: We understand that things can happen. However, refunds are not authorized after the 14-day window has passed. When a student enrolls, it is fully expected that they intend to certify (and earn the patch) for the Basic Survival Course. If you fall behind due to an inability to complete assigned tasks but are still participating in training and attempting to complete them, keeping up with the group, and giving it your best, we will continue to work with you so that you can complete the course to the best of your ability. Should your ability to keep up with the group be hindered by an injury or medical issue, we will go above and beyond to help you by providing additional motivation, administering hydration, or aiding in your mobility for as long as you wish to continue the effort (and doing so will not jeopardize your health).

Should you refuse to participate in the training or voluntarily withdraw from the training (please note that these are both forms of quitting the course and no longer putting forth effort towards completion) you will be required to leave the school grounds immediately. We do not allow ANY students to remain in camp without the instructors’ present. In addition, we do not allow any students to remain after voluntary withdraw from the course.

It is perfectly acceptable to continue the training and complete the course without qualifying for the patch. Simply let the Instructor know that is your desire to continue training. Students that participate, to the best of their ability in all the training and make it to the end, will receive a Certificate of Completion for the Course. Failure to participate in all the training being conducted but staying until the last day is not considered course completion.

Students that have met the minimum requirements and completed the course will be issued a Basic patch and a Certificate of Completion signed by the Instructor Staff. Students who did not meet the minimum requirement, but still completed the course, will only receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the Instructor Staff. The certificates will note the 2.5 CEU’s that some employers may recognize as continuing education.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: Any student under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
